ABOUT COBALT
Cobalt has been a gay DC icon for more than a generation now. After it was closed due to fire in 1997, the renovation and new ownership re-opened a brand new lounge and club experience in 2000. Cobalt has become an undisputed center of DC's social scene with a classy martini bar and lounge on the first floor and an unbeatable dance and club space on the second floor. No matter what your taste, Cobalt is definitely an all-in-one crowd pleaser.
Cobalt isn't your home away from home. It's not a gay "Cheers". It's where DC boys come to let loose, get down, and have a great time. We feed you the beat and what you do with it is your own business. Most people have no problem figuring out what to do.
Want a good drink in a relaxing atmosphere? Martini's anyone? You name it, you got it. You won't find a hotter and more friendly bar staff anywhere in the city. Relax with friends over a few cosmos, check out the hot guy on the other couch, or just catch up on gossip in the lounge. Take in a bit more skin and dance your cute little ass off on the dance floor upstairs if the mood hits you. Remember the hot guy on the couch? Now is your chance!
Cobalt also boasts a selection of the city's best and brightest DJ talent which are the backbone of Cobalt. Depending on the night of the week you may hear classic Donna Summer and Earth Wind & Fire, mainstream pop hits from Whitney Houston and Britney Spears, or some of today's most pounding underground dance anthems. Nationally known DJ talent occasionally grace the turntables at Cobalt as well. These special events are not to be missed! Be sure to check our nightly and weekly event lineup to ensure you wear the appropriate shoes or stay at home and listen to the radio. Snore.
